Joyce Yamada

My art studies were at UC Berkeley, the San Francisco Art Institute, and UT Austin. I needed an artistís survival job and by quirks of fate and personality I became a physician.

I painted throughout the nine years of medical training, becoming a diagnostic radiologist. For many years I worked one week as a doctor, followed by one week as an artist. During this period I did not exhibit.

I quit medicine in 2004 to become a full-time painter, and moved to Brooklyn in 2006, where I continue to live and work. I began exhibiting in NYC in 2006.

Joyce exhibited in Elements in Red
