Martin Cohen

Martin incorporates mixed media, including photographic cutouts and found objects, into his abstract expressionist oil paintings and paper pieces to introduce a textural quality and to explore elements of culture.

Martin received a BFA degree from SUNY Purchase and an MFA degree from Carnegie Mellon, where he studied with renowned artist Sam Gilliam.

He has had one-man shows at Vivian Horan Fine Art, Gallery at New World Stages, and Cooper Union, and his pieces were on view in 2011 at the Laurie M. Tisch Gallery at the Jewish Community Center of Manhattan. Martin has exhibited in solo and group shows at Fountain Gallery, and his works have been acquired by corporate patrons such as the Estee Lauder Companies Inc., Eli Lilly and Company, and Citi.

Fountain Gallery presented his work in its three-person show Body Language and his work was included in an exhibition at the Education and Research Center of The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). Martin has been the subject of an article in an issue of Mann About Town magazine.
